The Chennaigaga store is on No. 27 TTK Road, Royapettah.
We have a handy vegetable shop ‘Royapettah Kaikani Sirappu Angadi’ next door, Café Coffee Day on our left, Kalpaka restaurant opposite us, Shijil Tea Stall diagonally opposite us and Hotel Savera behind us.
Kalpaka has been a popular place for many years, serving homely Kerala food with their meals, biryani being best sellers and specifically ‘avial’ and chicken 65 being single-dish winners apart from a comforting, warm jaggery payasam. Café Coffee Day needs no introduction being part of a huge chain. Hotel Savera is one of the most popular hotels in Chennai with its central location, consistent hospitality, delectable food and reasonable pricing.
It is Shijil Tea Stall that is the quiet achiever here. Their egg bajjis, vaazhakkai bajjis, channa masala, masala vadai and tea are surprisingly delicious. It’s no wonder they are bustling with activity. Salt as an ingredient in Indian cooking makes or breaks a dish and Shijil has it down pat. Their Masala Vadai doesn’t have to be piping hot to be devoured easily because it’s crisp on the outside and perfectly composed on the inside. For a corner tea stall, they deserve applause for having their recipes spot on.
Our Chennaigaga store is ensconced in the middle of all this activity on the ‘other’ side of TTK Road with the illustrious Music Academy being the most common landmark to guide people to our store front.
Do visit and go gaga over Chennai!
