Abhinandan is a household name now. He’s the current symbol of India’s love for India and Indians’ love, awe and respect for the bravehearts in our forces, whose depth of training and bravery on the spot is quite far removed from commonfolk like us whom they strive to protect. A fighter pilot captured by our neighbor country and returned to us amidst much turmoil, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s capture made many take to social media to express their anguish at his capture, concern for his well being, and prayers for his safe return.
He is back on his mother soil now and will hopefully recover soon. We at Chennaigaga too pray not only for his continued well being and safety but also for all the other men and women in our forces committed to defending our country. This world we live in today cannot really afford anything other than peace as a minimum given. But while our borders like all of us should indeed be protected from foreign threats, it would be even better to pray for peace and for the same feeling of peace to enter the hearts of all those who use aggression and attack to achieve their purposes.
There is no question that regardless of religion, caste or creed, so many Indians have the true emotion of belonging in them with no prompting. It could well be a gene thing. No outside force needs to call on us to celebrate and fight for our nation. The lump in our throats on hearing about the recent terrorist attack at Pulwama was formed naturally and was as real as the relieved cheering and clapping in the privacy of many homes when WC Abhinandan returned home alive.
May peace always win.
