It’s that time of the year. After prolonged complaints about the weather and the scorching sun, the humidity and the dreadful perspiration that is the worst by-product of Namma Chennai summers, we are getting into resignation mode. Resigned to the one thing that makes Chennai less than the perfect place to live in. The weather.
End of May is the time to stop giving excuses citing ‘It’s too hot’ for underperforming at work or even at play. It’s that time when you have to pull up your socks (or in Chennai’s case remove them altogether and wear comfortable, airy chappals!) and get back to FULL ON mode. Schools and colleges reopen, bosses return from Kodaikanal or snowy destinations abroad, deadlines start poking your conscience like anything …and so on. We also resign ourselves to the fact that this heat won’t let up until late October so we may as well get on with life.
It’s an old cycle which feels new every time.
T-shirt coming soon.
